When you first walk into a business, whether you mean to or not, you probably begin making judgments about the quality of the company’s work based on the appearance of the office. So, if you run your own business, it’s in your best interest to make sure that the office décor is spic and span and looking professional. One of the easiest and best ways to do this is by making sure that your office carpet is properly cleaned and maintained. Here’s how you can do that:
Vacuum Your Carpets Regularly
One of the things that you will notice is that your carpets will have a tendency to start to look tired and worn out if they are not vacuumed regularly. If you have a high traffic area that is looking dingy, then make sure that you vacuum it every single day. In addition, low traffic areas that don't get as much attention should be vacuumed a couple of times a week.
Vacuuming every single day is important, but it isn't enough. If you want to make your carpets look in tip-top shape, then hire a professional cleaning crew to come in regularly. High traffic areas will need a good deep cleaning about once a month while the other areas can generally hold off for quarterly cleaning sessions. But the only way to get that deep, ground-in dirt out is with a professional cleaning company that has the equipment and the know-how to get the job done.
Have A Spill Procedure
Let’s face it: accidents happen. But if you spill something on your office carpeting, it’s not feasible to hold off on cleaning it until the next time your cleaning crew comes in. Instead, have a procedure in place to deal with those accidental spills. Be sure to use a cleaning solution that will get even the toughest stains, like coffee or soda, completely out and have this solution on standby.
Invest In A Quality Carpet
Finally, you need to invest upfront in a good quality carpet that is easy to clean and resistant to stains. It helps if you get a carpet that is patterned so that basic stains won’t show up as easily as others. (That means the solid white carpet is out unless you want to be doing more-than-regular maintenance on it.)
Keeping your office carpet clean and well-tended isn’t just a good idea when it comes to a polished, professional look, it is also an investment that will keep your carpet in good shape for years so that you do not have to replace it as often, saving you money in the long-run.
